There’s another new phishing scam going around. Phishing is when someone pretends to be someone else, in this case PayPal, in order to get your account information.
Here’s the email that’s making the rounds:
You have added someone@someURL.com as a new email address for your PayPal account.
If you did not authorize this change or if you need assistance with your account, please contact PayPal customer service . . . . .
The first rule when you get an email like this is to NEVER click on any link provided in the email. You also NEVER want to reply to the email.
Instead my advice is to log into your PayPal account just to double check things. Go to the “My Account” tab and select “Profile” from the sub navigation. Then click on “Email” in the Account Information section.
The next screen will show you all the emails associated with your PayPal account. If you see one you don’t recognize call PayPal immediately. However chances are that everything is just fine.
