A new version of my favorite newsletter software, phpList, has just come out. It’s loaded with great new features. You can read the full list of upgrades and improvements on their website. Here are the changes I’m most excited to see:
An Improved Interface. The layout is more user friendly.
Security Enhancements. Elements of phpList have been made even more secure, particularly the password encryption. Additionally, phpList security is verified by HTTPS web vulnerability scanner.
Improved Click tracking.
The Introduction of Plugins. The phpList system, like WordPress, now has extended functionality through plugins.
While the improvements are wonderful, phpList is still not easy to upgrade. Don’t get me wrong, the update process is fully documented. However it’s a little intense for for most people. My company has updated several phpList installations. It takes between 2 and 3 hours to backup the system and make the update. Feel free to contact me if you’d like to have your old version of phpList updated.
