Selling Your Designs Online – 6 Print-On-Demand Companies

auto renewalAre you looking to sell your art online? One way to do that is with a print-on-demand company.  You upload your art and the company makes the product when an order is placed.  The company will also handle all the online shopping cart issues and give you a portion of the sale.

Here are some print-on-demand companies.

CafePress – I’ve sold products on CafePress. Some of the plusses are that customers are familiar with the company and feel comfortable buying products there. Another plus is the large selection of customizable items.

There are negatives though.  Their commission structure can be confusing. It can also be difficult to find instructions on how to set up products.

Redbubble – Redbubble was founded in 2006.  They have a large selection of products including clothing, stickers, wall art and home decor.

Society6 – The company was founded in 2009.  Their mission is to “empower the World’s Artists to profit from the sale of their artwork, without giving up control of their rights!”

SmugMug – If you’re a photographer wanting to sell your photos, check out SmugMug. Their service includes website builders, a turnkey storefront solution and the ability to fulfil orders with a variety of top photo labs.

TeePublic – TeePublic has a smaller product offering than the other companies mentioned in this article. However their commissions are decent and I don’t see any minimum payment amount.  If you make $3 then you’re paid the next month without having to wait to get to $25 or $50 as happens with some other companies.

Zazzle – I used Zazzle briefly. I had difficulty with getting some of my images approved.  It took some time to get this problem corrected.  Even when there were no issues, I hated the lag time between when I submitted designs and when designs were approved.
